It is with excitement that we would like to announce our two upcoming spay/neuter and wellness programs for 2024. The programs will take place in Othos village (February 16-20th, 2024) and Arkasa village (July 2024). Through our July program we intend to help cats from Leukos and Mesochori as well. Dr. Anna Katogiritis will lead both programs with the help of volunteer veterinarians and licensed veterinary nurses. Our applications have already been submitted to the City Hall for review. The programs are being organized in collaboration with Veterinary Global Aid, Inc a US 501(c)3 non profit.
More specifically, during each program we will welcome experienced veterinarians from the US, Holland and Germany along with licensed veterinary nurses. Our priority is to provide our beloved stray cats with the quality of care they deserve. For this reason, along with the surgeries each cat with receive vaccinations for basic diseases, deworming, and care for any other medical problems (injuries, dental conditions etc). All equipment and medications AWK uses are of highest quality and we only use known brand names of medications, equipment and suture.
Since 2022, AWK has been focusing its spay/neuter programs in one village at a time as this allows us to control the stray cat population better. For this reason, we will not be accepting cats from other locations unless we have spayed/neutered our target number from each location. undefined
How can YOU help?
AWK relies solely on donations to carry out its important mission. We do not receive funding from the government or the city hall. If you would like to contribute to our programs please consider making a donation. Donations are accepted via our charity approved PayPal or bank account. Donations can also be made in kind (we have a list of items that we need). For US tax deductable donations please donate via Veterinary Global Aid here.
If you would like to volunteer during the programs please fill out the survey below, and we will be in touch with you with more details. Volunteers who have not worked with AWK before will receive a short seminar on how to safely trap and release stray cats.
1-2 hours of your time each day is enough to make a huge impact on the welfare of the cats we serve and love!
